January 2011
My parents were medical missionaries with the Reformed Church of America at stations in Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq and Muscat. I started school at Kodai in the 6th grade and attended until graduation.
After highschool I returned to Michigan to attend Hope College for 2 years and then Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing for 3 years. I worked as an RN in several areas of nursing for 41 years. I moved to Maryland in 1993 to work at NIH and then to Colorado in 2008 when I retired.
My son David is a police officer who lives in Colorado and my daughter Sue is an accountant who lives in Ohio. I have 4 grandchildren who I enjoy immensely.
In 2001 I travelled to Bahrain, Kuwait, India and Kodai. I appreciated being able to visit my father's gravesite in Kuwait and to see the school after so many years. In 2010 I was able to go to South Africa with classmates to see Christian Hellinger's home/vineyard near Franschoek. It was a fantastic trip.
I love retirement and look foward to the 50th class reunion in the summer of 2011.
