2006

My parents were married in Ceylon in 1937 and remained there and in India until December 1941. They returned several times in the 1950'2 and 1960's on business assignments, and sent me to Kodai for my senior year when we were living in Colombo, Ceylon. I arrived at Kodai a few days after the school year had started, and Kikoo Maboobani was my roommate in Wissy. I first showed up late in the senior dining room for supper that night, and was given a royal welcome by the small (you guys) senior class, and I loved the year from then on. I had never experienced such a beautiful place with really a lot of freedom to explore. I went on to Dartmouth College, and
then the Navy for five years-graduate school and then a business career. I met my wife while in the Navy-she was a Navy nurse who took care of me after I broke a leg in an accident aboard ship. We married after a relatively short courtship. We now have three children - Hope, Brooke, and Matt - all living on the west coast. I have been to a number of re-unions in Oregon over the years-Steve and Laura Root have always put them together, and have seen a few of our classmates over the years. I did not want to go to Kodai, but it turned out to be a year that influenced the most of any event in my life to that point-I look back on it with great affection, and loved being able to see just about the whole class again at our 40th re-union.
