Jane Donahue Bridges

September 2010
My first grandchild is 18 months now and in Chicago, a few hours away by train. My daughter recently married a lovely man with a 9-year old daughter, and they are expecting a boy of their own. Besides loving my role as grandmother, I am writing poetry, occasionally attending workshops, meeting with a group here in town, teaching poetry to high schoolers in the summer program of my old school (Greenhills, in Ann Arbor), teaching creative writing in an Elderwise program, assisting my housemate Beverly Buchanan by sending images of her art to various museums and galleries. Last fall I spent a couple of weeks in Thailand with my brother Julian ('58) and his wife Kathy on a birding expedition. This fall we will be in Peru. The Kodai reunion in Colorado next summer will be a highlight of 2011. I hope EVERYONE who can will be there. If you are in the midwest and can swing by Ann Arbor, I would love to see you. A spare bedroom awaits.
